Treatment of Herpes Simplex virus infections in immunocompromised patients.
Hypersensitivity to acyclovir or to any of the excipients.
Minor reactions with less than 1 drop in blood pressure.
Patients with impaired kidney or liver function should not use acyclovir.
Zinc should be removed from the body as soon as possible to prevent further damage to the DNA.
The following are intended to be used to treat patients with oral herpes simplex virus infections:
Avoid use during the first 2 weeks of treatment with acyclovir. If you are taking valaciclovir or acyclovir, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using these products. You should wash your hands thoroughly to prevent accidental contact with your eyes.
If you have ever had herpes simplex virus infection, do not use; do not give up on herpes simplex virus infection.
Side effects of acyclovir:
Patients with a history of kidney failure should use caution when receiving treatment with acyclovir. Before starting treatment, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have had kidney or liver disease or if you have had any of the following symptoms:
Fluid retention
Vomiting, nausea, or vomiting
Stomach pain, constipation
Bloating, bloating, loss of appetite
Abdominal discomfort
Dark urine, pale stools
Redness or blistering
Abnormal bleeding
Serious skin reactions including Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis
Seizures, fits, and fits
If you have ever had an allergic reaction to acyclovir or valaciclovir, you should not use acyclovir or valaciclovir. You should be on the medication for the entire duration of treatment. Do not let your condition be affected.
